Article 12 - Opening Of Positions12.1 Posting of Vacancies. Simultaneous to the public announcement of the opening of a new or existing contracted position, the College shall post notices on specified bulletin boards on the campus of the availability of the position. A brief description of the job, the qualifications necessary, the date the new employment will be available, and the procedure for applying will be included. 12.2 Temporary Employee. A contracted position which is staffed with a temporary employee for any three (3) terms in an academic year and which will be continued in the following year shall be posted as outlined in Section 12.1. Failure to post such a position will cause the temporary employee to be hired as a probationary employee. 12.3 First Consideration. The person currently filling the contracted position shall be given first consideration in the event his/her qualifications are, in the judgment of the College, equal to or better than those of outside applicants. First consideration shall entitle the applicant to an interview. 12.4 Interview for Part-Time. Part-time employees who have worked during the previous twelve (12) months and who have applied for contracted positions shall be entitled to an interview if, in the College's judgment, they are among the six (6) most qualified applicants for the open position. 12.5 Reasons for Delayed Posting. If a contracted position, newly created or vacated for any reason other than layoff, has not been posted or filled by a temporary employee within 90 calendar days following its creation or vacancy, the Association shall, upon request, be provided the reason(s) for such delay.
