Assignment 1 

       I myself will be approaching this book with an open mind, seeing as I don't know much about the Civil War. I remember learning about it in middle school and high school but it didn't interest me that much. As I got older I started watching the history channel and they would show stories about the war and I got interested. I also grew up with a sister whose favorite war is the Civil War. It's not really an inaccuracy but in most text books they may mention the African Americans who participated in the war but they don't talk about it much.  

       I trust the newspaper book review source the best because it's his job to read books and write reviews on them. He probably went to school for journalism or something in that field. So I know he's educated in what he does. Or he is a history buff so he might know a lot about what he's writing about. I have a lot of confidence on this book because in all the reviews we read, they were all positive.   

       I may not know much about the Civil war, but with this class I'm betting I will learn a lot. It may not even be my favorite war but it is one of the good ones to learn about.
