GroupWise
The post office directory structure contains subdirectories and databases that store messages and the information used to distribute the messages.
The post office database (wphost.db) contains all administrative information for the post office, including a list of all users that belong to the post office. It also contains the Address Book for the post office.
Each user on a post office has a user database (userxxx.db where xxx is the user's file ID, or FID) located in the ofuser subdirectory. The user database stores the user's setup information, personal groups, rules, and other information specific to the user. It also contains pointers to the user's messages in the message databases.
Messages in a post office are stored in the message databases (msgnnn.db) in the ofmsg subdirectory.
Document databases store documents and all related document information in database files located under the post_office \gwdms\lib0-FF subdirectories.
The guardian database (ngwguard.db) stores information that is common among other databases, including user, message, and document databases. This eliminates duplication of information and results in increased performance.
If client users use Caching mode, users’ entire mailboxes are stored on their workstations. Cached mailboxes include several databases parallel in function to the databases that users access when working in Online mode while connected to the network.
If client users use Remote mode, Remote mailboxes
are created on user workstations in a directory named rofdata by default.
Remote mailboxes include several databases parallel in function to the
databases that users access when actually connected to the main GroupWise
When users archive messages and other GroupWise items, archive databases are created. Each user's archive directory is named ofxxxarc, where xxx is the user's file ID (FID). Archive databases can be created on user workstations or on the network, as determined by the administrator. Since archive databases can become very large over time, the administrator may require users to store their archive databases on their local workstations.
