Hello students, Congratulations to all groups who successfully submitted 33 questions from 11 McPherson chapters on their wiki pages by last night's deadline. Now, of course, there is some variation in question type and quality, but that is was you will be looking at this week, in preparation for your midterm exams next week. Don't forget about your final reading, viewing, and quiz assignment this week. This is the last of the information that you will be required to know for you midterm exams. McPherson QA Assignment Continues I'm assuming that each group member has the final list of questions that was submitted by your group. If not, be sure to get a copy by returning to the McPherson QA Assignment Wiki page. The page has been "locked", so you won't be able to do any more editing. Just be sure that you DO NOT answer your own group's questions. Group 1 will be answering Group 2's questions, and vice-versa. This goes for groups 3&4, 5&6, and 7&8. Be sure to read the Instructions McPherson QA Database link in Moodle. McPherson QA Assignment Feedback As promised, you will have an opportunity to provide me with private feedback about this assignment and how you and your group members worked together. But, the assignment is still ongoing this week, you have to read and watch new material this week, and you have a midterm exam to prepare for. So, I will not add "providing feedback" to your list of things to do this week. You will be able to provide this information towards the end of next week, AFTER you have taken your midterm exams. (This also means that you won't receive your McPherson QA assignment "grades" until after that time.) Midterm Exam As you may recall from the syllabus, and numerous other email and web-page reminders I've provided about this class, you must come to the LCC main campus (or if outside the Willamette Valley, a previously approved testing center) to take your midterm exam in a secure testing environment. The exam is in Moodle, BUT it is only accessible from computers in the CEN456 Social Science Testing Lab. Although it should take you about an hour on a single day to complete your exam, you have a six-day period of time to take it. See the deadline link in Moodle. These dates have been available to you since the very beginning of the term. Click the link below for specific lab hours of operation each day. https://teach.lanecc.edu/timmerst/ Please note that the testing lab staff will not let any student begin a test within one hour of closing time. You do not have to make an appointment, but be sure to bring your photo ID when you go to take the exam. You are not allowed to use your book or any notes while taking the test. This lab administers tests for all Social Science classes and all Distance Learning classes at LCC. Please plan accordingly and do not procrastinate until the last minute. There are no makeup exams and this counts for 25% of your grade in this class. Midterm Exam Study List Your midterm exam will cover all of the material for weeks 1 through 5 (McPherson chapters 8-20, Ward chapters 1-3, and video Episodes 1-4, and the maps). To help you focus your studies, you will find a Midterm Exam Study List under the Class Handouts link in Moodle by tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. Good luck this week with your groupwork and final preparation for your midterm exams.
