A 25-23 - excellent work B 22-20 - above average work C 19-18 - average D 17-15 - below average A bit brief, but nice citations and quotes. Be careful on some of your conclusions. Nice job. In the future, cite your quotes and sources, eg. (Appy p45) Taking a bit more time (and more sentences) to fully explain yourself would have helped greatly. In the future, cite your quotes and sources this way (Appy p45) rather than “On page 91 of Patriots,…” Very good job overall, especially part 2. The questions I asked required much more depth of thought and written development. It is very clear to me that you did not complete the first journal assignment, because what you have provided here is completely superficial and could have been written by anyone who had read or even glanced at just 2 stories in the Appy book, instead of reading hundreds of pages in two books and viewing 3+ hours of video. Have you read the comments I posted to students after the first Journal assignment, about incorporating all of these elements into your papers? Have you read the announcements where these assignments are meant to show me an entire week’s worth of work? Be sure to do exactly what the questions ask you to do. I don’t believe anything you wrote answered any question I asked. Moreover, the questions I asked required much more depth of thought and written development. This is excellent work and a big step up from your first journal. Keep up the good work. Small point… In the future, cite your quotes and sources, eg. (Appy p45), not just the first page number of the story. This was, by far, one of the best papers I’ve read in the past few years for this class. The level of analysis you reached (even Kattenberg’s “lapse”) was incredible. Keep it up. but don’t include any specifics or support for this statement. First of all, let me say excellent work. I appreciate the time you’ve taken on this assignment. The level of analysis you reached for multiple stories was truly exceptional. Having said that, I can tell you that you wrote on too many stories. I’m certainly not going to penalize you, but can tell you that about 50% of what you included here would have been considered A+ work. So again, let me sheepishly tell you that this is excellent work, and you can do less of it in the future. Believe me, I’ve rarely had to say this in 19 years as a teacher. :)
