Attendance	Attendance will be taken, and unexcused absences will be considered in determining your final grade. Clear absences, prior to the fact if possible, with your instructor.
Dropping The Class	Students who are officially registered for this course but who fail to attend at least 50% of the class meetings during the first two weeks of the term will be administratively dropped. It is the student's responsibility to officially drop this course before the class change deadline. (8th Week)
Course Objectives	Develop: knowledge and understanding of people and events that shaped this nation's history from 1945 to the present. the ablity to analyze and interpret historical data from multiple sources and develop multiple perspectives. meaningful connections and insights into the links between "history"and contemporary times.
Procedures	Course format is a blend of lecture and discussion, prompted by student questions, outside readings, primary source document analysis and video clips. It is imperitive to GPA and self esteem that students keep to the class schedule of readings, assignments, and testing.
Evaluation	Practice computer tests are available on the internet. They should be taken during the appropriate week scheduled, not crammed in before the exams. They will roughly coincide with each chapter in the book. Two in-class Quickwrites will be given during the term. Students will read appropriate material outside of class, view a video in class, then have approximately 30 minutes to write their responses to a critical question given in class. There are no makeups. Missing one will have the other one count double. Two midterm exams and a non-comprehensive final examination will be given in CEN 423C, the Written Testing Lab. The hours are: Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Friday 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. There are no makeup exams. There is no extra credit. Grades of INCOMPLETE will not be given. Attendance will be considered in determining your final grade. Social Science Computer Lab	Main Campus CEN 423 - Mon-Thur 10am-8pm, Fri 10am-5pm. Computers are available for word processing, computerized testing, and surfing the internet. The fee is $1/hour. Enrollment in this class comes with one hour of computer time in ANY and ALL of the LCC computer labs.
