1wel since i like history to begin with, this just reenforced my like of history, mr. escobar is a very good instructor and i did learn alot in his class, definitely would recommend this class and this teacher to everyone
1doing a reading quiz every week really helped me retain the information i read, and having access to all the images used throughout the week in class was very helpful as well.
1i liked that this class connected history with current events. i liked that there are sevral ways that our grade is calculated and that it does not rely on only test scores. the lectures were interesting and helped me understand what i needed to learn.
1i liked the discussion and i really liked the online forums.
1escobar really enjoys this subject and it shows. he is also very into technology and uses a variety of media in his instruction. he clearly spends a lot of time on his lectures and new ways to make it interesting and relevant. i appreciate this.

1i loved this class! the instructor was full of enthusiasm and knowledge. the instructor used many different methods to teach which kept class very interesting and something you didn't want to miss.

1mr. escobar has been without a doubt my favorite instructor i have had since starting here, his insight into history is fantastic, he has just re affirmed my dream to become a history teacher myself. thank you mr. escobar

1joe was very passionate about the topic's he teaches. history isn't usually very interesting, but his enthusiasm made it easier to pay attention. also, he made it basically impossible to forget anything. he emailed student's every step of the way when there was an assignment, which i found very helpful.
1very informative videos and good quiz questions that challenge
1i liked that many things were related back to events happening in the present. it helps put things into context about how similar/different things in history are to everyday life.
1well taught and organized better than most lcc classes
1i liked the use of powerpoint, but mixed with the instructor actually teaching, not just reading it to the class. the online portions of the class were good because it actually makes the student do studying/work at home.

1i loved how well you knew and taught the material. it was so clean and organized and you seemed to have it nearly memorized. i really love how you teach, it is very non bias. i still can't figure out which way you vote, how often you go to church, what kind of church, or any church at all. and that is what i love to have in a history teacher.
1he uses a wide range of materials to help teach.
1i personally enjoyed the teachers enthusiasm in what he teached. history esepcially united states history is extremely important and in order to solve some of the modern problems, you need to understand they didn't begin presently they've been around since the turn of the century.
1i liked how it was laid back. yes we learned and had to write down stuff, but what i liked most was that teacher makes jokes and you can relate ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
1lectures were great, enthusiastic, interesting and get to the point, very informative. i enjoyed and often found humor in joe's teaching. quiz's were done the right way, and great for study material with instant correct snswers shown. the most honest and real teacher i have had. really great professional presentations each and every day through power point in class and on moodle. first teacher to show you the tricks of moodle, and how your teachers can basically spy on you to see when you're on and what you click on (i'll keep that in mind :d).

1i really enjoyed how engaged he made me in every class with everything that he taught. i loved how he would talk about history, but explain how it would affect the u.s. today showing us different articles and news stories. i found it very helpful, and even though we had to take quizzes every week and do forums, i found it all very helpful and useful for exams, and it made me have a much better understanding of what we were being taught in class.

1this was a great class, i love the way he presented the material in a way that made me interested. it was not just a lecture, but i was actually engaged in the lectures because of the video clips and the enthusiasm shown by the professor for the subject. he made it fun to learn about what many people consider a fairly boring subject.

1the use of media and the polling in class lectures to keep it interesting.
1i like the fact that he was very sociable and easy to get along with. also, the clicker day was the best.
1i have taken other history classes but this was the hardest one so far. i also like the "future" maximum grade handout.

1enthusiastic teacher, with good teaching skills and style. answers questions when asked, always makes an effort to help the students. the moodle quizzes were helpful in reviewing information, and the forum was good for interacting with other students and getting more than one point of view on a subject. i also benefited from the last minute cram session that we had. another positive thing was that we had the chance to attend either the am or pm class. i would definitely recommend escobar for any history classes.
1i liked how escobar covered the material, with the mix of videos, stories and lecture notes. i also liked that even though there was a lot of online work, he made sure to send out reminders when things were do, which made it easy to stay on top of the work.
1i liked the use of videos and songs and political cartoons because just reading from a textbook or taking power point notes can be difficult. it's easier for me to remember something that i learned in a creative form rather than read and memorize the text. i also liked how quizzes and homework are online because it got me to work on the material outside of class, yet i could still pick a time that worked best for me.
1teacher's cheerfulness and care for each student's needs.
1i really enjoyed all the extra supplementary material that professor escobar used in class. the powerpoints were also incredibly well done with the seamless additions of excerpts from historical documentaries. everything was well organized from the arrangement of assignments to how he laid out the day's materials. i think what i ultimately liked most was how he tied historical events of the time era we studied with current events. made for a very interesting and enjoyable class.

1the text book chapters were really long, and i had a hard time keeping up with all the reading. also i think i could have done better on exams if there were 3 or 4 with covering less material instead of just 2 that cover half the of what we learn all term.
1the wording of the exams and the choices of the answers are a little hard to read. it really throws me off.
1the forum discussions can be hard to get interested in, particularly since the direction the discussion should take can seem a bit vague. some of the things i read in the forums made me feel almost at a loss for words. i found myself imagining hearing people say these things in a social setting like a party. i wanted to go home away from this party.
1make the power points available to students outside of class.
1in my opinion the online aspect of the class could be weighted a little less.
1the class was great as it was. i really couldn't ask for anything different. more "south park" episodes to help explain our nation's history, perhaps? ha! ha!

1a very good history class and organized well
1i would shorten the clips that are shown during class. those longer ones that are over 5 minutes tend to make most people not pay attention. i have noticed that i lose focus and many other students do as well.
