1 Everything about the class was good. I don't like the forums, but hey, not everything is perfect.
1 He made history interesting, and I don't find it interesting at all.

1 I enjoyed the content as well as how Joe presented the material. Most of the US history I know is what I learned in elementary school, so it is nice to get a less censored version. I also really appreciated the ties into today's news stories and how relevant the material really is.
1 I enjoyed using the voting machine at around the half way point in class. Also the weekly quizzes were very helpful in preparing me for the following weeks lectures.
1 I like that Escobar had so much enthusiasm! It made some classes really funny. I also liked that we were doing something constantly in class, it makes things go by a lot faster.
1 I like the format of the class. I appreciate the deadline of a weekly quiz that must be completed but not scored for correct answers. I appreciate the video clips of historians, cartoons, and other media used to teach historical fact. I also liked that we were taught "the good, the bad, and the ugly" of history; a true historical lecture.
1 i like the freedom the hybrid class gave me. It gave me the ability to do school work and quizzes on my free time and allowed me to balance my schedule as i saw fit.
1 I liked a lot about this class. Your enthusiasm for the subject really helped keep me interested and draw me in to an appreciation for history that I did not really have before. I like that you try to stay balanced and honest about political issues and historical events, stating facts instead of reinforcing the less-than-accurate things that are still lingering from my public, primary "education".

1 I liked how enthusiastic Mr.Escobar was. He brought in materials from his own experience traveling to the historical places. The videos were informative and the slides were specific. Mr. Escobar was funny and that was a refresher, especially towards the end of the term.
1 I liked how he stayed on topic and didn't get behind from the work sechduel. Very informative class, highly recommend it to anyone that enjoys histroy.

1 I liked that the teacher made weekly assignments. Instead of every night homework we were able to do the work on our own time which made completing them much easier.
1 I liked that the teacher was enjoyable to listen too. He made me want to listen and pay attention in class. ( which is not easy to do). He had good views and covered the material well. It felt like a college class and not like a high school one, like some of the other classes i have taken.
1 i liked the class in a sence that the teacher made it very clear what was and was not going to be on exams and what to put in our notes and not to put in our notes. i also liked how the teacher was availible to each students needs and did not blow them off or ont help them spacifically

1 I really liked the text book, as odd as that may sound. I've found that reading/reading comprehension helps me to better remember history (that and discussing what I've learned), and the text book was not as dense as some.
1 I think Escobar is a very enthusiastic teacher who really cares about the subject he is teaching. I liked the online work in this class as it helped me study and learn outside of the classroom.
1 I will reiterate: Joe is one of those guys that his peers probably don't like when it comes to being compared to them. He does what I would expect an Adult/Professional/Teacher to do. He does his job 100%, then he does that extra that helps him bring cohesiveness to the lectures. It's not one thing after another, its really more like a movie, novel, live show all in one. By bringing in the different sensory tools he does he captures more of his audience. By playing to the diverse ways that people learns he ensures that everyone walks away feeling like they learned something. Bravo

1 The class covers a lot of interesting material. The instructor was well prepared, always on time and never failed to keep the class interested. Though the reading can become overbearing, but it is easy if you just stay on top of your work. The inclusion of video clips, current events, humor and Escobar's knowledge really make the class worth while.
1 The Class is well designed. Deadlines are strict, but set well in advance and can allow the student to schedule HW times easily. It's just a perfectly designed and exceptionally well taught class.
1 The constant transition between lecture and videos, it kept my attention.

1 By using Joe as the grading curve you could dramatically raise the prestige of your History department and start really producing quality students instead of Palo Friar students.
1 Honestly I don't think anything needs to be improved. It was my own fault that I didnt do as well in the class as i would have wanted. Most classes at lane are a joke (no offense to other teachers) and Escobar is how a college teacher should be. I guess you could say I wasn't ready for that and slacked off because in most classes you can and still pass.
1 I don't really know how it could be improved. I personally received no help from the study guides, which I printed off and read through, but they didn't do much to help with the material. Rather, it was more beneficial for me to just read every chapter and take the online quizzes (which I loved having). I think a more effective study guide, at least for myself, would be a reading comprehension sheet for every chapter which maybe has you look up relevant information in each chapter. I've had that in previous classes and it was effective for me...

1 I think it would be cool if the students had a choice between doing, for example, the online forum, or a different group project or something.
1 i think the class could be improved in the fact of letting the students view their final exam and their midterm after they are done to see what they did wrong and what they could improve on
1 I think the class is designed fairly well. I know it is a partially online class, but I felt the forums were what hurt me the most. I had a hard time participating in something so dynamic. I set aside time for homework but it did not coincide well with the forum. The forum is a nice idea but it can get lost amongst the set-in-stone every week homework like the reading.

1 I think this is the most engaging history class I've ever taken, and I don't know that there is room for improvements.

1 Just a random thought, but maybe for the final you could design a jeopardy type of game where the winner gets 2% on his/her final grade. Again JUST a random thought. lol

1 My only beef was the confusion surrounding the Forums. Specifically, I didn't understand the breakdown of Forum 1...I thought Part 1 of Forum 1 would end and then we would start Part 2. Due to this, I didn't complete enough replies when Forum 1 closed for good. Forum 2 seemed to go more smoothly, having three different topics over a three week period.

1 need more class discussion time and group work, too much info in one class, would be nice to break the course up into more classes instead of just three.
1 On the midterm exam, there was an overwhelming amount of questions that over half the class got wrong. That is in large part due to the individual students, but at the same time I think if that many students are getting that many questions wrong than there may be another problem.

1 The forums seemed like a tacked on part of class and did not seem to fit as well as they could have. I feel like if maybe the instructor was involved in the discussions they may have been more informative. If this is just a requirement at Lane to do a group activity it is certainly a lot better than other professor's ideas to meet that requirement. The last minute reply's by many students make them difficult to have a discussion in as well.
1 The main thing I wish could have been a little different is that I would have enjoyed more in class discussions. Instead of taking notes and watching videos the whole time, I feel like really asking questions and getting students really involved would have been beneficial.
1 The teacher required us to do a lot. I feel that the material needed to succeed in the class needs to be shortened or needs to be 5 credits instead of 4.
1 The test are a little too tricky. Why do you need to have trick questions, with a couple partially true answers? You're are going a bit far with tests.
1 The test questions can be confusing. There could be more videos, those were great! More hands on stuff, the articles and objects brought in class were quite interesting.
1 The tests were pretty rough. I think there should be less questions, 90 is a lot, by the time you get to 70 your brain is totally done with multiple choice. Also being more reasonable on grading the forams not easier but just more fair. i feel like i was graded on accuracy on some of the foarms that were opinion based. other than that a enjoyed the class!
1 use more visual aids, not all people learn from listen most need visible words to visuals and get.
1 When teaching events, make a point to go over chronological order of things. More slides making this clear. A slide on political parties: Where they began, what they developed into and where they are now. One branch at a time. Just because this gets confusing at times when there are so many and they change so often. One clear slide on the development of each political party would make things in the entire term more clear. At the end of a chapter, review people and what they were connected most significantly connected with.
