- Teacher’s teaching method

- The material

- Great integration of technology and teaching

- The time period discussed

- I like how Mr. Escobar used video clips and maps to help us learn materials. It was a great way to keep students involved

- The video clips/useful sources

- Very effective teaching style using primary sources, videos, lecture, cartoons, etc. One of the most enjoyable history classes I have ever taken.

- I enjoyed doing the quizzes online and the movie clips throughout the course.

- Very interesting, enjoyed coming to class, Escobar is a very good teacher.

- Escobar’s enthusiasm was significant to students. It was easy to see he enjoyed subject matter.

- Mr. Escobar didn’t show bias. He was probably the least biased teacher I’ve had at Lane or anywhere.

- He made it interesting.

- Liked style of teaching

- I liked how he used the videos in class.

- The enthusiasm of the teacher.

- Sometimes there was enough time allowed between slides to write down the information

- A little more open discussion
- It was great!

- I’m not sure. I think Mr. Escobar is one of the best teachers I have had at Lane.
- More class discussion on Primary Source Documents
- Possibly having more hands on activity in any way? Lecturing isn’t exactly my favorite learning style.
- One or two class group assignments could be interesting. It can help students learn how to apply knowledge.
- Seemed like a lot of information in a short amount of time.
- Use more of the remote technique

Q# 13. What did you like about this class?

- I liked the effective use of class time and the manner and easy with which the subjects were taught.

- How relevant sources were used well.

- Good class, notes could be a little better. A bit like a poli-sci class, but it makes you think.

- The use of PowerPoint

- Enthusiasm of the teacher

- Online practice tests

- The lecture slides were good, good use of video clips, nicely related to current topics

- Good teacher – lots of touchy race issues that he handled well.

- Very good lectures in class – A+

- Seemed unbiased and told it how it actually was, usually unpleasant.

- I liked the whole class.

- The enthusiasm of his teaching style.

- Excellent teacher, makes subject challenging yet very surprisingly interesting.

- Mr. Escobar made it so the class was enjoyable to go to – he made it a fun experience.

- How Mr. Escobar went into detail on most subjects.

- The information and the way it was presented. I enjoyed the discussions.

- I thought it was an interesting time period in history to learn about.

- Great class. I learned a great deal about history, and Escobar encouraged students to expand their knowledge.

- Escobar is an intelligent professor who clearly knows what he’s talking about.

- I really enjoyed the video clips. For me, it brought the history alive.

- I liked the video clips. I found them very helpful with understanding the material. Joe’s live for history showed through his teaching.

- I think the online quizzes were very helpful for studying for the midterm/final.

might be helpful or useful.

- Did great job, maybe on test less great specifics

- Easier mid-term and probably final exam.

- Good teacher!

- Almost all class points are on exams and PSD – uneven balance. After halfway through the term, final grade is determined. Made me now want to study as much after midterm.

- It would have been better if we didn’t have the snow days.

- Give study guides out a few weeks before midterm/final as sort of a guideline.

- Course seemed to focus on the negative more than positive. The subject matter discussed was true, though.

- It’s an awesome class!

- Make it open to more class discussion.

- The instructor could do less political science and more history in the class.

- Better exam notes – as in what to study – should be grouped together by time period and related material.

- I see no need for improvements.

- The PSD’s should be discussed more in depth prior to the first group turning them in. I had an issue with the fact that you said you actually grade groups harder now that things had been discussed further. Overall though, the class was a blast! I’m just sorry I have to take a different teacher for 203.

- I don’t think that it could be improved. I think it’s great.
