Extra Credit Opportunity

This optional assign is not designed (or weighted) to replace missing coursework. This assignment will have the effect of bumping a borderline final course grade upwards half of one percent.

It is due Saturday, December 6, 2008 at 9pm.

World War Two has often been referred to as "The Good War".  United States involvement in Vietnam has the opposite distinction.  You will watch both movies, Saving Private Ryan and We Were Soldiers.  They can be rented (or purchased) at any video store.  After viewing them, you will write a short 2 to 3 page paper (approximately 730-1100 words) comparing (similarities) and contrasting (differences) the people and events depicted in the films.  Can you come to the conclusion that there is such a thing as a good war and a bad war?  Explain.
