From Cheri Ladd RE: Developmental ED Criteria

I looked over the budget criteria and don't have anything else to add. I
agree with Chris Seifert's input about DV4--about keeping it "weighed"
AND "examined" and DV5.

From Christine Seifert RE: Developmental ED Criteria

My concerns are with DV 4 and 5.
DV4:  If reducing barriers is a core value for LCC, it seems like this
criteria should be weighed, not just examined.
DV5:  In the comments submitted to the Strategic Planning committee by
us, by the Bridge Committee, and I think by the Diversity Team (maybe
the Women's Program also) a couple of weeks ago, the
importance of providing "foundational skills" was stressed.

DV 4    Provides education to populations whose access has been
restricted by previous educational experiences.  Demonstration of this
criterion is provided by division chair.    Provides education to
populations whose access has been restricted by previous educational
experiences.  Demonstration of this criterion is provided by division
chair.  List the specific Limited Access Populations your program
addresses and outline how these populations are being served.  This
criterion should be examined but not weighed.

DV 5    Provides the life skills needed for success as a worker, college
student and/or community member.  Demonstration of this criterion is
provided by division chair.     Eliminate this criterion.  Include the
information in DV 4 (Limited Access Populations).

DV4 Do not know what the meaning of "examined but not weighed" means. If it warrants examination, then it should also be weighed.

DV7 Would change the recommendation to "completing or continuing their program of study". Sometimes this student population needs longer terms of study to complete what might take other students far less time. Such is the nature of the student group.
