Installation
Simply extract the Moodle Gradebook Enhancement into the root directory of your Moodle 1.5 installation. It will put everything into the correct directories. You can then fire up moodle. As a user with teacher permissions in a class, you should be able to see a new tab called "Edit". Your gradebook will function as usual if you use the original "View" tab, but uses the enhanced version (with editing capabilities) if you use the "Edit" tab.

Use:
Once the gradebook enhancement has been installed, under the new "Edit" tab, you will be able to edit grades. To do this, click on a Student's name (row header), or an assignment name (column header) to toggle that row/column editable. The row or column will change color (color depends on the Moodle style you are using), and items within that row/column will change. Assignments will no longer just be a number, they should be a text input box. You can enter the number of points for that assignment in the box, and when you hit "Save" at the bottom of the page, the grade for that assignment will be saved. Other types of content (Lessons/Workshops/Quizzes/etc) will turn to links for that specific instance. Anytime you change a grade in an assignment input box, the total will be recomputed in the "Total" column for that student.

Multiple Rows/Columns can be toggled "Editable" (highlighted) at a time, however, any intersecting rows/columns will cancel eachother out. At the bottom of the Edit page you will find 3 buttons. The "Save Assignment Grades" button saves any changes you have made to the database. The "Reset Grades" button will reset any changed grades back to their original values. The "Select All" button will toggle all the fields in the table editable (and will turn into a "Deselect All" button).

Note: Once you commit the grades to the database with the "Save Assignment Grades" button, you will not be able to revert back!
