Many faculty members in our department spend a great deal of time on committees (department, college, etc), constant curriculum redevelopment, community service, and engaged in other forms of non-teaching work identified in Article 35.4.2.  It is estimated that the average contracted faculty member spends well above the six hours.   Indeed, of the eleven faculty members completing this survey, the estimated average in hours of committee work outside the classroom ranges between 9 and 11.5 hours a week.

Six or fewer are needed to maintain effectiveness, but to meet current excessive administrative workload requirements, 10 hours are required.
