Resetting the request counter

Occasionally you may want to reset, or change WebBoard’s request counter. For example, you may have moved WebBoard to a new computer or want to restart the request counter every month. To reset the requests counter to zero, do this:
  1. On the Management Menu, click Site Management.
  2. On the Site Management form, scroll down to the System Settings section.
  3. Click the Go button next to Reset Requests. All user requests will be reset, which causes the total system requests to become 0 (zero).

Removing inactive users

You can remove users who haven’t been active on any board on the WebBoard site within a specified number of days. When WebBoard deletes inactive users, it removes them from the database. You may want to remove inactive users frequently on a site with boards where users tend to register once for a limited purpose and then do not return. Removing inactive users is usually considered good housekeeping and optimizes your database. However, in some cases, such as on an intranet, you may not want to remove inactive users.

To delete inactive users from the database, follow these steps:

  1. On the Management Menu, click Site Management.
  2. On the Site Management form, scroll down to the System Settings section.
  3. Enter a number in the Days field. WebBoard will delete users who have not been active on a board for that number of days or more. For example, to delete users who haven’t been active for a month, enter 30. The default is 90.
  4. Click Go. WebBoard pauses while it deletes inactive users. (After deleting inactive users, WebBoard replaces the Days entry you made with the default—90).

Note Note
This is a manual operation which is only available to Administrators. The system does not automatically remove users. Additionally, the setting will always default back to 90 after users are deleted.

Setting the number of topics to display

You can specify the maximum number of topics to display in the Conferences list at one time beneath a conference. If conference topics exceed your setting, down or up arrows appear to let users navigate down to the next batch of topics or back up to the preceding batch of topics within a conference. The default is 20. For best performance, choose a number of 25 or less. If you find that the number of topics displayed at one time beneath a conference is too many or too few, use the Max Topics field to change the maximum allowed.

To set the maximum number of topics to display at one time beneath a conference, do the following:

  1. On the Managemeent Menu, click Site Management.
  2. On the Site Management form, scroll down to the System Settings section.
  3. Enter the number in the Max Topics field and click Go to save your setting.
