Miscellaneous Server Settings

You can change the location of the folders where WebBoard stores message bodies, images, and files attached to messages. These folders are shared by all WebBoard installations in a multi-installation setting, so there is only one of each regardless of how many computers are running WebBoard. You can also specify the various content types you want the web server to recognize. All of these settings are made on the Misc. Server Settings section of the Site Management form.

With multiple installations of WebBoard, since all installations share common image, message, HTML, logs, and uploads folders, you will have to set UNC paths on each installation to point to the shared folders, which are installed with the primary WebBoard installation.

Note
Although we recommend that you use UNC paths, if the folder is on the same computer as WebBoard and you have only one installation of WebBoard, you can enter a drive letter path. X:\Folder\Sub-Folder\Sub-Sub-Folder.

Setting the messages folder

All message body text is stored in the confs directory of the primary WebBoard installation. Each board has its own subdirectory, containing text for all messages in all board conferences.

In the Message Folder field, enter the physical path for the messages folder where messages for the conferences are stored. Each board has its own subdirectory.

Enter the full UNC path in this field, for example, \\ComputerName\ShareName\Folder\Sub-Folder\Sub-Sub-Folder\. Be sure your WebBoard server can always reach it. Browse your directories using Network Neighborhood to get the UNC path for a directory.
Click Change after you type a new location.

Setting the HTML folder

All WebBoard HTML files are stored in the /WebBoard/HTML folder and its subdirectories. These are all the pages and forms used in the WebBoard interface.

Enter the physical path for the HTML folder.

Enter the full UNC path in this field, for example, \\ComputerName\ShareName\Folder\Sub-Folder\Sub-Sub-Folder\. Be sure your WebBoard server can always reach it. Browse your directories using Network Neighborhood to get the UNC path for a directory.
Click Change after you type a new location.

Setting the images folder

By default, all graphics for a board’s HTML pages are stored in the primary WebBoard installation’s /WebBoard/Images folder. Images include such graphics as the attention icons, new icons, Powered by WebBoard logo, chat smileys, navigational buttons, background images, and so forth. The Images folder contains the images used by the default scheme and subdirectories for the other 11 schemes (and a subdirectory for the default scheme although these images are not used). Each subdirectory has a full set of images.

Enter the physical path for the Images folder. Take performance issues into consideration.

Click Change after you type a new location.

Setting the logs folder

Logs Folder specifies the logs folder for storing WebBoard Logs. This includes the general WebBoard logs as well as the logs for each board in the site. Logs are stored by default in the /WebBoard/logs folder on the primary installation.

In the Logs Folder field, enter the physical path for the Logs folder.

Enter the full UNC path in this field, for example, \\ComputerName\ShareName\Folder\Sub-Folder\Sub-Sub-Folder\. Be sure your WebBoard server can always reach it. Browse your directories using Network Neighborhood to get the UNC path for a directory.
Click Change after you type a new location.

Setting the attachment folder

Attachment Folder specifies the upload folder for storing message attachments. Uploads are stored by default in the /WebBoard/Upload folder on the primary installation.

In the Attachment Folder field, enter the physical path for the Uploads folder. Be sure to allow enough disk space for these files.

Enter the full UNC path in this field, for example, \\ComputerName\ShareName\Folder\Sub-Folder\Sub-Sub-Folder\. Be sure your WebBoard server can always reach it. Browse your directories using Network Neighborhood to get the UNC path for a directory.
Click Change after you type a new location.

Listing the content types (file formats)

Content Types specifies content types, or file formats, the server will recognize and use. By scrolling through the textbox, you see that WebBoard supports a variety of types from text to jpeg to audio. To add more content types, type them in this field, separated by commas, for example, html=text/html,htm=text/html. Click Change if you add new formats.
