Add or Edit a Conference: Active links/images

In the Active Links and Images section you can choose to allow active links and images in this conference. If you enable this feature, URLs included in messages become active links. For example, typing http://webboard.chatspace.com in a message creates an active link to WebBoard Central. This feature enhances a conference discussion by allowing users to integrate outside resources in their postings.

Likewise, you can allow links to images to become active. For example, typing http://mycompany.com/image.gif in a message displays the graphic in the image.gif file stored at mycompany.com in place of the HREF in the message just as it would in an HTML document. Images do not appear in email messages.

To allow active links and/or images, follow these steps:

To allow active links, check the “Allow active links in messages” checkbox.
To allow images, check the “Allow active images in messages” checkbox.

Tip
Some of your WebBoard users may not have access to a web server where they can store images for including in messages they post. Consider letting users know they can upload images as file attachments (if enabled) and then link to that image. The default location fo uploads is the \WebBoard\Upload folder, so, for example, the path in the link would be http://webboard.server.name:port_number/Upload/image.gif. Used in an image tag, an example might be <img src="http://webboard.chatspace.com/Upload/sunrise.gif”>. You should experiment with this before letting your users try it.
