Each board should have a board manager, even if it’s only you. However, to
distribute responsibility, you can select one or more managers for your board.
Managers have authority within their designated board to manage the board, its
conferences, and users. They can’t change sitewide settings, create a board, or edit
a board. You cannot designate a manager who has not yet been added as a user.
The first manager listed is used in the <WB-BOARDMANAGER> tag on various
WebBoard pages and emails. If no manager is assigned to the board, the tag
returns an empty string, which may look peculiar on HTML pages that use the tag.
To prevent this, assign a manager to the board.
To designate one or more managers, follow these steps:
- On the Management menu, click on Select Managers.
- Click Select Managers. The Managers for boardname page appears. The Managers
list box shows the current board managers. On a new board, this is empty.
- Click on Show User List. The list will appear in the left frame.
- Search for users by first or last name or login name; search by first letter of last name; or list all users, as follows:
- To search by first or last name or login name, select First, Last,
or Login, enter the text to search for, and click Search. WebBoard will
try to match the text you enter with the information in the selected
category on the user profiles. You don’t have to enter a complete word.
- To display a list of all users whose last name starts with a given
letter, click a letter in the Show by Last Name area.
- To list all users leave the text box empty and select First, Last,
or Login to tell WebBoard what to use in alphabetizing the list. For
example, click Login to sort the list alphabetically by login name.
Click Search.
- WebBoard lists the names that match the search criteria:
- If there is a large user base, it can take several minutes to
display the list of all users.
- WebBoard displays 25 names at a time. Click the Show Next link to
see the next batch of names.
- Select the users to serve as board managers from the list generated by the
search. As you click a name, it appears in the Managers list. Continue
clicking names until you have added all the managers. If the list returned
by the first search does not include all the users you want to add, search
again and add names from the new list.
- If you make a mistake or wish to remove a Manager, select the name in
the Manager list. Removing a user as manager does not remove the user from
the board or as participant in a closed board.
- Click on Submit to save the changes.
