Emotivism: moral statements are not factual but merely express subjective attitudes and preferences. Moral statements are neither true nor false.
-people are just expressing their feelings
-Prof. gave an example of abortion vs. temperature in a room (the basis for each is different, factual vs. opinion-based)
Objections:
1) Some things seem wrong no matter how people feel about them
2) People seem to argue logically and at length about morality
"Capital Punishment is just" or "Chocolate ice cream is good", are opinions, preferences

Layman believes atheists have no satisfactory answer to the question "Why be moral?"
Morality doesn't always pay for atheists.
Theists (those who believe in God) have a reason to be moral ALL the time because nobody escapes God's eye in judgement. (Like- "Big brother is watching.")

Objections:
1) Karma could work without a God- still a religious view though
2) Assumes ethical or psychological egoism
3) Humans have a cooperative nature, sense of community, predisposed to social interaction
4) Which religion is right? A generic God may not be sufficient.
