Objections to Utilitarianism:
1. To permissive, bight the bullet; point out flaw,this is my view, so what if you think that. Grants permission to kill innocent people on grounds that it would make the people as a whole happier. Gives an explanation on why it is okay to kill innocent people. Absolute, irrational prejudices about killing, lying or stealing.
2. a.)consequences of sacrificing an individual on the behalf of the majority is not considered. For example; If a man is hung to appease the crowd, does this mean torturing is morally justified? b.) To demanding, asks for sacrifice of individual for the greater good. Requires to much personal sacrifice. 3. Rule utilitarianism; will be discussed Friday in class, did not have time to cover.
