I think in times of economic hardship we
are able to make ourselves believe all
sorts of things. I do not believe Himmler
was afraid of not complying with the
government, rather that he enjoyed the
sense of power it gave him. I think he
was a control freak and liked to be in
charge after being overshadowed for so
long.
