I think that what you are saying does carry some weight, but if these people were so ashamed of what they had done, they should have thought about it more carefully before they acted. It was not fair or right to their children to hide it, they had the right to know the history of their country. Had they never found out they could have done the same thing all over again. Hitler was a brilliant man, unfortunately he used his brilliance to try to wipe out everyone that was different from him and his ideals and anyone that wouldn't follow his ideals. People have a tendency to follow leaders that look strong, and seem to have a good plan (I do not understand how killing millions of Jewish people, or anyone that the Nazi's targeted would be a good plan)but they don't think about what the big picture would be. By not letting the children of Germany know about their history, it set them up again to be blinded by unreasonable hatred. While their history is nothing to be proud of, it should have been told.
