One of my biggest pet peeves in the argument against God: "If God was omnipotent, bad things wouldn't happen in life."

If you know the Bible, you know that (according to the story) God gave people power over themselves and their actions. Since God apparently has that power, doesn't He also have the choice to give that power up as He pleases?

Not only that, but some people who argue against God (nobody I have known on here, but I've known others who are like this) don't take into account the theory that the Devil, or some kinf of evil entity, must have some kind of power in the universe as well. And if it is true about God giving up His power over people, why should he stop all evil in the world? And as I have said before, evil happens for some reason or another, and more often than not, it's to teach people lessons so they can be better people in the future.

Personally, I think that people who argue against got are using the "omnipotent" argument as a scapegoat. They tend to think that everything is either black and white, and it's impossible to have any grey area.
