Why do you think a person has to decide whether they believe in God or choosing what will guide their morality?

I may believe in God but that doesn't mean that I have to strive to be like Christ, follow the ten commandments and live my life waiting for judgement day. It just means that I believe there is a superior being who when I ask for guidance is there.

But I also don't think that I have to make a cut-and-dried choice of what guides me in my life. I can find a mix between what guides my morality, my beliefs in afterlife and my beliefs in God to create my opinion.

That is what I think but I am interested in hearing why you think there are only two choices...God or something else. Unless I interpreted your post wrong.
