Why does it have to be only one of the three? I am reminded of Keith Johnstone (an improv theatre guru) who is very good at playing games. One of my favorite games is "Yes, And..."
In the game we are presented with a challenge to solve. There are no wrong answers (so far this sounds like philosophy) and the rule is, when presented with a solution, the player(s) say "Yes...And...?" and someone comes up with another solution...and so on....getting more and more ludicrous until everyone is laughing.
This is an amazing way to spend a hour, a day....maybe the rest of your life. Approach life from a YES...AND!!! perspective and watch the ideas really fly.

Anyway, that was all to say that it seems to me that there are probably far more than three theories (are these the 3 most popular?) and then there would be all the combinations of the various theories...and on and on and on.
There is no definitive answer here - only and infinity of possibilities.
