My earlier comments were about
compatiblism. Compatiblists seem to
have a problem with explaining suffering
in that they cannot appeal to the
libertarian notion of free will in order to
explain it.

In other words, the "free will defense"
against the Problem of Evil only works if
you're a libertarian. If everything's
determined, then an omnipotent God
would have no trouble designing a world
where no evil existed and everyone only
desired to do good.
