Mary-
What makes you think that we Human Beings are not animals? Science says that we clearly are animals. Common wisdom suggests that we are very advanced animals, but animals nonetheless. I would challenge common wisdom, and suggest that we are no more advanced than other animals. We are simply more adaptive, and so we can survive harsh natural phenomena. As a result of this, we are clogging up the planet with our waste, and destroying the eco-systems which we and every other living thing depend on to live. So maybe you're right, we are not animals. But your reasoning is wrong. The reason that we are not animals is that we have deemed ourselves to be above the 'rules' which govern life on the planet earth. But if that's truly the case, we have not stopped being animals in lieu of something better or more noble. We have stopped being animals, only to become something much much worse.
