By outside elements, I mean everything else that happes in the world, from falling in love to forest fires.

For example, I can control my desire to eat something and deside if I want to eat or not. But I guess you really cannot control who you fall in love with, which is determined by fate. People sometimes have fallen into their trade (what they do for a living) due to an amazing string of coincidences. So perhaps we have control over what we do ourselves, but there is an other-wordly source of control over everthing else...?
