In the Compatablism/Soft-Determinism reading there was a statement that "I believe that one of the reasons for this has to do with the difficulty in maintaining that a just God punishes people for something they couldn't help but do." I respectfully disagree with this statement. I believe that God does not punish people for something they couldn't help but do. People make mistakes and God knows this. As long as you can admit when you are wrong and ask forgiveness then God will forgive you without punishment. If a child gets burned if he plays with fire it is not Gods fault it is the fault of the child or the adult who is in charge of the child. Just as if someone ends up in hell it is not Gods fault it is the fault of the person who ends up there. God is not punishing them. They made their choice and have to deal with the consequences that go along with them.
