Suppose you come upon a man hitting
himself over the head repeatedly with a
wooden plank. You ask him why he's
doing it and he says "Because when I
stop it feels so good!"

Isn't there something absurd about his
behavior?

Perhaps where Buddhism goes wrong is
not in trying to end suffering but in its
identification of desire as its cause.
