I wouldn't really think of being cloned as a way to achieve immortality. I mean I wouldn't define who I am by my genetic makeup so I definitely wouldn't think of cloning as a form of immortality.. it kind of seems like that would fall somewhere in that whole concept about having children is a form of immortality.. Just because your family name continues doesn't really constitute immortality. now if they could figure out a way to preserve my essence even if it ment getting a new body I might think about that.
Cloning seems relevant for the ability to reproduce organs and tissues but recreating a person really doesn't seem necessary I mean really couldn't you just have a kid, they might not look just like you but you can mold them starting from a young age, whether you would be successful or not is another story.
