1. The exam will begin on Monday at 1PM.
It will be unavailable in the morning of the
first test day. It ends Friday at 5PM.
Please remember that the testing center
is NOT open until 7:30 on Fridays. Also,
keep in mind that Fridays tend to be a
"logjam" day for testing and there may be
some waiting to use a computer. If Friday
is the best day for you to take it, it's a good
idea to show up as early in the day as
possible. If you can take it Mon-Thurs, that
would be preferable.

2. Some additional material on free will
will be posted on Thursday and/or Friday.
This material will be on the exam. Also,
people will be likely to be posting
questions (and answers) about the study
guide and test material over the weekend.
Additionally, there will be a chat study
session Sunday at 4:00 (see below) and
the log will be posted later Sunday. It is
advisable to look at the WebBoard
Sunday night or Monday morning before
taking the exam. The instructor reserves
the right to hold students responsible for
any material posted on WebBoard
through Sunday night.

3. There will be a chat study session
Sunday from 4:00 to 5:00. If there are
people present who still have questions
about the exam, I'll go until 5:30. Just
press the "chat" button at the top of the
screen after you have logged in to
webboard. If you haven't tried it before, it
might be a good idea to do it before
Sunday, so you can concentrate on the
material and not learning the chat
program. Or, if you're computer savvy,
follow the directions for downloading and
using mirc or ircle posted before the first
midterm.

4. To improve performance on this exam
, many students will find it helpful to stop
by office hours and ask particular
questions. I can also quiz you, if you like,
to see how well you understand the
material and clearn up any
misconceptions or areas of confusion.
Calling during office hours this week is
not likely to get you a live answer, as I'll
probably be busy with students much of
the time and will let my voicemail pick it
up. Please leave a message and
S-L-O-W-L-Y give me your call back
number and I'll return your call as soon
as I have an opportunity. You can also
email me with particular questions (or, if
you think they are questions other also
have, post them to the WebBoard).

5. The last day to drop or change your
grading option is the Friday, February
28th. Since you will get your score back
immediately and can go through
webboard and count your posts, you
should be able to calculate your grade
thus far. For example, if you posted 4/5
times in the first five weeks, that's 80%.
Average this in with your two exam scores
and you'll know your score going into the
final. However, remember that you get to
drop your lowest exam score. So average
in only the higher exam score with
second midterm if you plan to take the
final. If you're happy with your two midterm
scores, you can elect to drop the final and
not take it. I wouldn't recommend this
unless you've gotten A's on both. Even if
you take this option, remember that you
are still responsible for posting to the
WebBoard/Listserv.
