Have you considered using LCCs WEB CT server/format for this class? I'm not terribly techno-savy, but having taken online classes in that format, I find it to be much more convenient in many ways (the most central example of which is that once you have read a post the board marks it read for you, so you can start reading the new posts, leave to do something else, come back and finish, without being confused as to where you left off.)
