Freedom seems to be something we want, and do not really have. We have freedom to choose, but if we choose what is against the law or our cultural values then we may be punished. In that sense we are not free. The example of the man who chose to abide by christian values, and chooses to go to church, may not feel "free" to do so but a need to go to avoid punishment...which is still free to choose but not totally free.
Is being free choosing between freedom and punishment? Is being free choosing between controlled happiness and "free" happiness?
