Wow. This opened up my brain. I want to go to the library and look for information on Cryonics that is less company propaganda. I have a hard time swallowing advertising - regardless of weather or not it is based in fact. Maybe I would feel differently if they had presented some of the less positive side of the picture (there must be one - there always is) and delt with that honestly.
My response to the concept of Cryonics is HELL NO. I don't want to live forever - I don't even want to live 110 years. Nature has mapped out some general guidelines that we should follow for the good of our species, and more importantly, the good of all species. Death is a natural and important part of life. When we die, our bodies go back to the earth, and add another small layer of soil to grow food for the future. Human beings learn to value each other and their own lives when death touches them or their friends and family. Death is not anymore threatening than a move to a new state...I don't necessarily know what I am going to find, but I will go into it with the spirit of adventure and appreciate the opportunities that I have had...and if it is just a "long sleep" then I will be gratefull for a decent nap (finally!).
To sum up my thoughts on Cryonics. Human beings are not Gods, nor are we the only (or even the most important) species on the planet. CPR is one thing. Cryonics is something else entirely. It is not our job to completely circumvent an important natural process.
