When I first started reading the cryonics handouts I was taken back by the answer to the first question as to if anyone has been successfully revived from cryonic suspension. The simple "NO" answer was so 'loud' I could not keep reading.

Eventually the noise quieted and I read further. It amazed me that they are so sure it will work but clearly state that "cryonics is a two-step process", and they don't seem at all worried that they "MIGHT master step two later".

The handouts were quite informative, although obviously slanted to this company. But I thought it was very interesting and would like to know more.

Now, as to a question that popped into my head while reading.

What about the Soul or Spirit? Is the body and brain "dead" enough to release the soul/spirit? If they can revive someone who has been suspended, will their soul return? Or will there be a bunch of soul-less spirit-less people wandering around. This was not mentioned in the sections that addressed the different religious thoughts about cryonics.

Most people that I have talked to think that question or uncertainty alone would be enough of a drawback that they would not be suspended. Who would want to risk the possibility of living without a soul?

I understand how the memory retention could be tested, but the soul? Seems to me the only way to have any kind of idea on that is to talk to someone who has been successfully revived. I see a problem here already.
