I like Socrates, from what I have read in this class he reminds me of my father in many ways. A simple man many would think beneath them in intelligence, but my father has given me the best words of wisdom throughout my life to live with. He often would say to me "That man is so smart he is stupid" When someone of a great mind could not show any common sense. I felt Socrates determining that the oracles message that he was "the wisest man there was" to hold true simply because he was ignorant, and knew was not wise a common theme in philosophy. The theme being in order to realize a deeper understanding you must first break yourself down to a fetal understanding. That is to say you must exclude your knowledge of life. to be like a babe in the mothers womb unaware of the larger world outside. This is my only formal philosophy class I have taken so I do not know much on the subject.
I enjoy reading philosophers, and have noticed the most common statement in all my readings of different authors is this "I do not know anything", but here is my point of view anyway. Perhaps philosophy is not only the love of wisdom, but the wisdom to admit no wisdom at all.
