I've heard of cryonics for a number of years but never really read anything about it. I part of me thinks of it as science fiction...way out there. I asked my 16 year old what he knew about it and he started explaining it to me in a very animated way. When he was finished explaining, I asked him if he was interested in being put into suspension and his response was, "No Way, I don't want to live forever!" That started me thinking about Dr. James Bedford, who was put into suspension in 1967. If it were possible to revive him, how would he react to the world as it is now? Society is so incredibly different now than it was in the 60's. People are much more cynical today. Technology is way more advanced. Those of us that are old enough to have lived in the 60's have had a chance to adjust to the changes at our own rate. Imagine what Dr. Bedford would think if he were revived today to watch MTV. Think of the sticker shock he would have by looking at the price of a loaf of bread, or the price of gasoline. For me, I need to adjust to changes slowly.
