5. Who were the natural philosophers?

The natural philosophers were a small
group of men who were interested in the
workings of the natural or material world.
They weren't philosophers in the fullest
sense. Also referred to as the
Pre-Socratics. Includes Anaxagoras
(evolution) and Democritus (materialism
and atomism.

6. Who were the sophists?

The sophists were a small group of
men who taught argument, rhetoric, law,
and political maneuvering for a fee. They
honed logical argumentation into a fine
art and made a lot of money. They had a
bad reputation because of their focus on
financial gain.
