As I was re-reading the selflessness material for the test one thing kept bothering me. The part that bothered me was when he said that we do not own our feelings. He asked the question "Do we order happiness, sadness, irritation, excitement, or restlessness to come?" We may not order them to come however, we can order them to leave. This became ever more apparent to me as I tried to finish studying while my two year old danced and sang around the living room trying to get my attention. I had a couple of choices, I could get irritated, I could laugh at how cute he is, or at least how cute he thinks he is, or I could get sad because I never have enough time to get everything that I need to get done done. I decided to just laugh at him give him the attention that he felt that he needed and hugged him and he calmed down. If I didn't own my own feelings I wouldn't have had a choice on how to react to this situation. I may be way off, I am extremely tired.
