Palmer describes the Socratic method as
a three pronged approach where
Socrates (1) asks the subject simple
questions about his view or theory on a
particular topic, often lavishing him with
mock praise for his knowledge, (2)
destroys the view or theory by finding
hidden inconsistencies or logical
problems with it. Then, after the subject
has abandoned all his preconceptions
and conceit, Socrates (3) works together
with the subject to search out the truth of
the matter.
