You know, the more I read and the further I get in this class, the more I keep thinking back to this post of yours. I'm a science major, and philosophy keeps me thinking about our limits, and the limits of pure rationality.

My original thought in regards to the Mythos/Logos dichotomy had to do with Thales. Suppose he was right, and desert winds accounted for the flow of the Nile. What then? I'd ask why the desert winds blew as they did! We could then explain that they are caused by moving zones of high and low pressure. Then I'd inquire what caused these zones of high and low pressure to be shifting about the way they are.

And so on and so forth. I don't feel like we've exactly uncovered the truth of the Nile waters with any new explanation. And the further back we inquire, the closer we come to a mythological reason while we prove the limits of our understanding.

This came to the fore recently as I tried viewing my world through philosophy-tinted sunglasses, but that's an entirely different topic :)
