You are to post a minium of ONCE PER
WEEK on the assigned readings and
topics. This is clearly stated in the
syllabus. You can of course post more
than this if you like.

The requirement is NOT to post once for
each chapter of the Palmer book!

You can also respond to other students'
posts, though a "me, too!" post will not get
full credit. If you're going to post
something short--like a sentence or two
comment on what someone else
said--you should do this more than once
in a week. You can also post questions,
comments, etc. on the handouts I post.

Here is how I plan to tally the posts:

Because of all the difficulty with the server
along with some late adds and the
bookstore not having enough of the
Palmer book, I am going to count the
posts in two installments.

By the end of the 5th Week (Sunday,
February 9th, I'll give you the weekend),
you can receive credit for posting up to
FIVE times--six if you posted your
introduction separately or have
messages arranging meetings, etc.--you
need FIVE posts on the COURSE
SUBECT MATTER by FEB 9th).

Then, at the end of the 10th week, I will
tally the posts again and you can receive
credit for posting another FIVE more
times.

So, you will receive two scores out of a
possible five points. You can't apply posts
from the first half of class to the second.
So,if you only post 4 times before Feb 9th
and six times or even seven times after
Feb 9th, you still will only get credit for 9
posts (4 posts for the first half of class
and a maximum of 5 in the second
class). Thus 25% of your grade would be
90% or an A-

The rationale behind this is to keep
people from trying to post all their
messages in the last week or two of
class. That was the reason I wanted to
tally posts weekly, but our technical
problems have made that policy
unworkable.

Again, my apologies for all the downtime.
I'm hoping the rest of the quarter will be
smooth sailing from a technical point of
view.

As some people will be taking the test
beginning tomorrow, you might want to
review that section of the syllabus.

An good idea for posting the rest of this
week is questions on the study guide you
were unable to answer.
