As I was reading about Descartes and Dualism I
couldn't help but compare this philosophy to the
theory of "mind over matter" . Perhaps the people
who are able to walk over hot coals without
getting burned or hang from their skin by meat
hooks in a human mobile subscribe to this
philosophy that their minds exist beyond or
separate from their bodies.
Also, I laughed out loud when I read the
behaviorist's response to the question of whether
or not he loved his wife(p.123)."I react positively to
her behavioral configurations, and she to mine."
Is it possible that people who subscribe to this
philosophy are afraid of losing control, of
"feeling" anything?
