My opinion of Heraclitus is that he was misunderstood. He seems to me to be more scientific than spiritual. I don't believe that this makes him a pessimist-only that he views things differently. Some philosophers end up back with god as the center (something they believed to be true to begin with). Heraclitus is leaving options open to things we may not have discovered yet.
