Hi-I'm Julie. I took Prof. B on-line class last semester and now I'm hooked. On-line is perfect for me because I work full time. My son (freshman at SOU) and my brother (stay at home dad-used to be philosophy major) were the inspiration for this new endeavor. I have completed the readings of Stanley Milgram and the required reading for the first week. I found the whole obedience test to be rather interesting. Although, I hardly think that a volunteer in a lab study should be compared to the Nazis. I always read the preface and introduction to any book. It helps to get "inside" the head of the author. And so far, I enjoy his style. So much easier than actually reading the philosophers. (fast reading) My favorite character or philosopher in the first chapter is Heraclitus. Even tho he is considered dark-he has good points. We went thru a lot of things in our theories of knowledge class last semester that makes me see Heraclitus' points on change. Even "justice is strife" makes sense. Are we not always striving to do the right things?
