My name is Penny. Last week I found out I needed 3 more credits in Social Science, which had to be completed by Spring term, to earn my AAOT without having to pay the fees again. Luckily, Professor Borrowdale allowed me to enroll in this class at the last minute. I work full time, am the single parent of two busy teenage boys, am enrolled in the Degree Completion Program at Northwest Christian College working toward my bachelor's degree in Business Management, and in my spare time (ha) am active in Boy Scouts of America.
If I were to select a branch of philosophy that intrigues me, it would have to be ethics, or moral philosophy. I am trying to raise my boys to have what I consider good morals and values. It has only become clear in the last few years that the boys' father and I have sharply contrasting morals and values. I have to be very careful in how I present to the boys, my opinion of what I think good morals and values are because they tend to think I am putting their father down when I tell them things like, "it is NOT okay to lie to someone just because you don't really know them, or may never see them again." But maybe that's just me. Maybe that value is relative to time and place.
