  As the instructor for math 52 I often hear students say how helpful math 52 is for any chemistry and for Biobonds. My hope is to keep the math 52 material current with the Biobonds course. I think students would benefit taking math 52 at the same time as Biobonds or even before. <br>
  One of the main purposes of math 52 is to help with chemistry, Biobonds, sciences, and then  also to get ready for Dosage for Nurses.<br>
  I would recommend that students take math 52 with or before Biobonds (or other chemistries)instead of math 20.<br>
  Math 20 is a very basic arithmetic class, featuring fractions, decimals and percents. Little to no time is spent on metrics, conversions, scientific notation, or the complicated formulas seen in science classes. Math 20 will not prepare students to do the formulas with many variables, with metrics, with logs, etc. And math 20 will not prepare students for the percents with solutions that is needed for chemistry and for dosage.<br>
  Again, I stress the math 52 is needed for sciences. Even the idea of just having tested into math 52 sends shivers up my back.<br>

The biobonds faculty in attendance at a recent meeting addressed the question of a math prerequisite for the BioBonds course pair.  The decision was to have a prerequisite of Math 20 (completed) or have tested into Math 52 ("ready" for Math 52, not actually in the course for us).<br>
