This theory argues with determinism that all actions are caused. It also agrees with libertarianism that we are responsible for our actions. They come to this apparent contradiction by re-defining FREE WILL to make it compatible with determinism. Every even has a cause. Compatalist also want to hang on to the morality issue. An example was used comparing a auto accident where one was caused by a drunk driver the other was caused by a man who suffered a seizure.Deaths occurred as a result. Should the two drivers be treated equally?
Argument for libertarianism or against determinism. Free will is doing what you want to do free from external compulsion also...in free will acts, the cause of the act is some desire or reason belonging to the agent. When forced to do something...free will is taken away! Calvinism: The theory that we are pre- destined to go to Heaven or Hell. The thought is that humans are born with a sin full nature inherited from Adam and are sent to Hell for willfully sinning. This seems unjust? Why? Compatalism style freedom but not real libertarianism style freedom but no moral responsibility. Compatalists define free will as: Action you choose even if desire is programmed.
Theism: The belief that God does exist. Three following arguments: Ontological,Cosmological, and Teleological
Ontological:An A priori argument: Believes God exists by definition."If God's existence is possible...then it is actual.
Cosmological : There has to be a first "cause" for existence to "be". Just because each student has a brain, does not prove that the class also has a brain.
Teleological: Complexity does not just happen. A watch was used as an example. If walking in the woods and you kick a rock, you think nothing of it? If you happen to kick a watch, you do. Again complexity is in question with this theory.
