Arguments for and against the existence of God

Extra Credit
1) Video and discussion Thursday 12-12 from 12:00-1:50.
2) Answer the questions from one of the study guides from one of the first two tests.

According to Anselm
-Atheism leads to a contradiction, so theism must be true.
-The greatest conceivable being only exists in the mind.
-If God existed only in the mind then he wouldn’t be the greatest conceivable being.

Paradox of Omnipotence
-Can God create a stone so heavy that he can’t lift? If yes then he can’t lift the stone and
is not omnipotent. If no, then he cannot create the stone and once again is not
omnipotent.

Mormon Malcom
-If Gods existence is possible then it is actual.

Counter-Argument
by Gaunilo-Using Anselms argument I could prove that the greatest conceivable island
exists, when it obviously doesn’t.

-An argument that proves everything, proves nothing.
