REL 203: Religions of the Middle East

First the teacher gave an intro to the class. He wants students to know that he does not grade on your beliefs. You can believe whatever you want.
We talked about how the word Yahweh came about.
Jews substitute Adonai (Hebrew for Lord) in public reading.
Jehovah is the mangled version for Yahweh. A monk came along and tried to translate YHWH which had no consonants into Jehovah.
Tetragrammatron also refers to the personal name of God in the bible.
In bible's of today it's now just "The Lord."
At the end of class we filled out a sheet that gave information about ourselves.
